Services
The CCC is a grassroots system of care in rural Washington County, Maine, dedicated to serving at-risk infants and young children ages birth to 8, and their families. We have major focuses on:
- infants affected by substances
- developmentally disabled or delayed infants
- toddlers and preschoolers affected by trauma and/or parental mental health issues
- infants born to teen parents
- under-sized/pre-term newborns
- children born with major medical issues that affect development
The CCC is creating an innovative approach to increase knowledge and services through collaboration and sharing. The Collaborative is made up of three groups: a Working Group of frontline workers; an Executive Council to establish interagency policy, procedures and resource allocation supporting collaboration; and a State Agency Advisory Group to drive state-level policy changes that support and spread the CCC’s system-of-care philosophy and methodology.
The CCC is impacting service providers, as well as the children and families they serve. Together, the CCC, the University of Maine at Machias and Washington County Community College are creating learning environments for professionals, students and the community that support the professional fields of infant (and adult) mental health, early intervention, substance abuse, health and education.
The CCC is broadening the definition of public health to be central to Washington County’s service-delivery system.
