The Lubec Community Outreach Center will be hosting its annual Senior/Veteran Holiday Dinner on Saturday, December 4th.  Keeping with tradition, the Masons Washington Lodge #37 AF&AM Lubec will be cooking a delicious meal and the Lubec Women’s Club will be baking up a storm of yummy sweets.  “We want to keep our community members safe,” states Eleody Libby, LCOC Director.  “Therefore, like last year, we will be delivering the meal.”  A holiday dinner delivery will be provided to any senior/veteran within the Lubec/Trescott area.  If you were delivered a meal last year, you will receive a call to ask if you would like to be included this year.  If you did not participate last year and are a senior/veteran or know one living within the Lubec or Trescott community and would like a warm holiday meal delivered to your door, please call (207) 733-5262 to be included in the delivery route.  We will continue to accept registrations until Nov 30th.  (Reprinted from Machias Valley News Observer).

Washington County Community College is excited to announce a new course called the Science of Substance Use Disorder, which is a one-credit course that explores common categories of mind-altering substances (see flyer). Students will learn about common substances and their neurobiology, health consequences associated with substance use, and common treatment approaches.  There are three opportunities coming up to take the course and it is free to under or unemployed Maine residents 18 years or over through Maine Quality Center.  This course is part of our Behavioral Health Pathways programming.  More information about that programming can be found here.
