The National Council on Aging is holding its 6th Annual Older Adult Mental Health Awareness Day Symposium. May 11, 2023 (that’s tomorrow!). This is a free, all-day, virtual event and will feature leaders in the field who are successfully partnering across sectors to provide equity-focused solutions to improve older adult mental health. Explore the agenda to see the topics and speakers. We anticipate offering 5.5 hours of free continuing education credit for dietitians, nurses, occupational and physical therapists, physicians, psychologists, and social workers. Women’s Health and Aging Q&A
To kick-off National Women’s Health Week, the National Institute on Aging and the Office on Women’s Health (OWH) will host a live, virtual, Q&A on women’s health and aging, May 15th from 1 – 2 pm. Substance Use Disorder and Prevention Webinar
The University of Maine System Injury Prevention and Substance Use Disorder Research Collaboratives invite you to the third and final webinar in our Spring Webinar Series. The webinar will take place on Tuesday, May 16th at 11 am, on the topic of Substance Use Disorder and Prevention with these presentations:
- Dr. Lois-Ann Kuntz (UMM), Dr. Tora Johnson (UMM), and Dr. Katherine Darling (UMA) will co-present “Framing Substance Use Disorder & Prevention Through the Lens of Social Determinants of Health.”
- Dr. Mary Lindsey Smith and the SURE Team (USM) will present “Conducting Evaluations Community-Driven Substance Use Disorder Initiatives Using Flexible Stakeholder Engaged Processes.”
- Dr. Dan Soucier (UM) will present “The Maine Drug Data Hub: Bridging and integrating public health and public safety data universes.”
Anyone interested is invited to attend. The webinar will last one hour and will include a 15-minute period for discussion following the three presentations listed above. This Q&A period will occur in a small, open group forum to foster meaningful engagement and connection. Unfortunately, CEUs will not be available for this event. The ball is in your court! Individuals and teams can now register to compete in the 19th EdGE Tennis Tournament on Saturday, September 9 at the Northeast Harbor Tennis Club. The tournament benefits the Mission’s EdGE program. Composed of men’s doubles and women’s doubles playing at advanced and intermediate levels, eight-player teams compete throughout the day.
