Healthy Acadia invites you to Join in commemorating Juneteenth 2023 at Knowlton Park, 11 Shore Road, Ellsworth, Maine on Monday, June 19, from 2 to 6 p.m. “Deepening Our Vital Connection to Nature and Each Other” will feature music, poets, speakers, and free delectable food from the celebrated tv personality and author, Chef Chris Scott and others. Featuring Maine’s own Pihcintu Multinational Girls’ Chorus, Stream Reggae, and Chief-Nze Oscar Mokeme, CEO and Founding Director of The Museum of African Culture located in Portland, Maine, who returns with the ‘Touch Table’ featuring masks from the museum and the Blessing event which moved so many participants last year. Hands-on activities for both children and adults as well as tables for vendors. The Commemoration on Monday will be broadcast live on WERU Community Radio 89.9 FM, and at WERU.org as well as video streaming at juneteenthdowneast.org. UMM is hosting a Red Cross Lifeguard Class July 11th-14th, 18th & 19th from 10 am — 3 pm. Successful participants will be certified in CPR, AED, First Aid and lifeguarding. The suspicion – or the certainty – that a loved one faces a diagnosis of dementia can be frightening for family members. Join AARP on June 8th, 12- 1 pm, for a webinar that will offer tips on how to prepare to be a caregiver – how to have honest and caring conversations about going to the doctor, how to know when it’s time for your loved one to stop driving (and then be sure it happens), and how to make the legal and financial plans caregivers need to manage another person’s care and affairs.
