The Lion’s Gate Portal occurs between July 28th and August 12th, peeking on August 8th this year. This is an alignment of the Sun in Leo, Earth, Orion’s Belt and Sirius, the brightest star in the night sky. This alignment sends high frequency energy to earth, helping us to open our hearts and receive intuitive guidance for new ideas, goals and projects. This is a great time to plan big changes.
Happy Wednesday!
New this week:
ZERO to THREE Learn Conference Keynote Speaker
Annie Murphy Paul is joining a jam-packed lineup as this year’s keynote speaker. Paul has built her career helping people understand how we learn and how we can do it better. During her keynote address Paul will dive into her new book, The Expanded Mind, to explode the myth that the brain is an all-powerful, all-purpose thinking machine that works best in silence and isolation. Instead, she argues, a host of “extra-neural” resources—the feelings and movements of our bodies, the physical spaces in which we learn and work, and the minds of those around us—can help us focus more intently, comprehend more deeply and create more imaginatively. Join us to hear the stories of scientists, artists, inventors, doctors, teachers and leaders who have mastered the art of thinking outside the brain. You’ll learn how every one of us, including the children and families you serve, can do the same, by tapping into the intelligence that exists beyond our heads—in our bodies, our surroundings and our relationships. Register now.

Women for Healthy Rural Living invites you to join other women on outdoor adventures and learning about our local natural ecology. OWL – short for Outdoor Women Lead – is a program that reduces the barriers women and girls face outdoors. Our outing group meets monthly and is reserved for women ages 16+. Participants explore local land preserves, waterways, and islands while learning about local natural ecology, practicing environmental stewardship, and getting outside with like-minded women. Our next outing is on August 12th. We are excited to partner with MITA, Maine Island Trail Association, to offer an OWL Stewardship Day on a local island – Head Harbor Island. This will be a full-day event. Participants can expect to ride in MITA’s fleet of skiffs to clean island shorelines, taking a break for lunch and returning by mid-afternoon. However, note that conditions can be challenging. Women should be physically fit and comfortable climbing in and out of small skiffs and scrambling over slick, rocky shorelines. All our outings are free but require pre-registration. More information and registration here.
