Welcome & Resource Fair

Mano en Mano and Maine Seacoast Mission invite you to bring resources and program materials to the November 1st Welcome event in support of migrant and seasonal workers.  See flyer for details.  There will be more opportunities to participate in Welcome & Resource Fairs on November 15th and 22nd.  Details coming soon.


Red Cross Readiness Workshop for Small Businesses

Please see this flyer for the upcoming class for small business owners and organizations across Washington County held on November 14th at the MainStreet Business Building in Machias from 11:30 am — 12:30 pm.  Please help us spread the word.


Child Care Business Lab Visits Machias

The Child Care Business Lab is excited to announce that we will be visiting Machias on November 21st!  We will be holding a celebration of child care in Washington County with the Sunrise County Economic Development Council and several other community partners. Aspiring child care owners, current providers, and anyone who wants to learn more are welcome! Food will be provided.  Please share this information with anyone you know who may be interested or go ahead and register yourself! We would love to see you in person. Beechland Road Open House

Join Healthy Acadia on December 5th, 4:30 — 7 pm, for our highly anticipated Open House at our new office, located at 77 Beechland Road in Ellsworth! We welcome you to check out our new space, learn more about our many programs and resources, enjoy some delicious treats and meet members of our staff. It’s sure to be a fun and festive event for all. While an RSVP is suggested to help with planning, it’s not required—everyone is welcome to drop in at any time during the event. Winter Fun Day

Healthy Acadia is excited to announce that a Winter Fun Day will be held on February 8, 2025, in Washington County. There will be food and activities for all ages. Machias-Area Community Suppers

All are welcome! Free, buffet-style meals, twice per month on Thursdays at 5 p.m. at the Centre Street Church Community Room, 9 Center Street, Machias. The menu varies according to surplus food donated by farms, food processors, retailers, pantries, schools, restaurants, and other organizations. Volunteers and food donations are welcome! The remaining dates for this Autumn are November 7 and 21, December 5 and 19. For more information, to volunteer at a meal or make a food donation, please email Lucy Zwigard at lucy.zwigard@healthyacadia.org or call her at 207-479-6940.


Hannaford Helps Supporting Maine Families

Maine Families is excited to announce that for the entire month of November we will be the recipients of the Hannaford Community Bag Program!  Starting November 1st, when you purchase a $2.50 Hannaford Helps Bag at the Machias Hannaford, Maine Families will receive a $1 donation! Our goal is to raise funds to support our car seat program which helps to provide free car seats and safety education for families in our community.  Please help us by purchasing the specially marked Hannaford Helps reusable bags during the month of November. Eviction Prevention Program has Opened

Maine Equal Justice reports that the Eviction Prevention Program (EPP) opened last week! It’s a lifeline for many rent burdened Maine families, but we must build on it to ensure everyone has a safe, affordable place to live.  The MEJ legal team has created a guide to the EPP with answers to commonly asked questions.
