Registration is now open for Scaling Trauma-Informed Care in Rural Health: A Training for Frontline Health & Helping Professionals, December 9th at Cobscook Institute presented by Jordan Porter, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC. The morning session of this FREE training event is open to all CCC Partners and will focus on foundations of trauma-informed care for rural communities and the language of shared human emotion and experiences (10 am — 12:30 pm). The afternoon session is for D-PHI partners only and will look at how to use the TCI platform for compassionate, trauma-informed care coordination (1:30 — 3:30 pm). Details and Registration here.
Downeast Rainbow Alliance is offering a free Rainbow 101 training at Cobscook Institute on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 from 4-5:30 pm. Improve your allyship for LGBTQ+ folks in your life by joining these free quarterly trainings offered through The Traveling Rainbow Project. This is a hybrid event, you may attend in person or via zoom. Rainbow 101 presentations are free for our community members provided by the Traveling Rainbow, a project of the Downeast Rainbow Alliance. Learn life saving terms and definitions, grapple with the mental health impacts of being an LGBTQIA2+ young adult in Downeast Maine, discuss scenarios and best practices, and gain access to ongoing coaching and resources. You are invited to this in-person (with an online option via zoom) monthly group at the Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center, 23 Commerce Park, Ellsworth, starting November 15th. Tools for Well Being, a mindfulness practice led by Jen Harry, will begin meeting on the 3rd Friday of each month. The goal of the group is to build a toolbox of techniques to help navigate life’s challenges and enhance each person’s level of well-being so that all can flourish in life. Caregiver Financial Tool
Barbara Chatterton, LCPC, of Community Health and Counseling Services, has openings for young adults, adults, and older adults, addressing numerous mental health concerns and challenging behaviors. Barbara is experienced working with the LGBTQ+ community, trauma survivors, veterans, previously incarcerated people, and family groups. Barbara is specialized in PTSD, grief and loss, attachment disorders, depression, anxiety, bipolar, and ADHD. Barbara’s approach is holistic, looking at the person and the system they are in, with an emphasis on collaboration. The modalities she employs vary with the individual and include psychodynamic therapy, internal family systems, narrative therapy, strengths-based therapy, CBT and DBT. Barbara is an in-person counselor who prizes connection with her clients; she will work remotely with established clients as needed to address poor travel conditions, physical health needs, or transportation challenges.
