Help for Youth Caregivers

There are an estimated 5.4 million caregivers in the U.S. who are under 18. One study estimates that 16% of high schools and 25% of middle schoolers are involved in caregiving for a loved one–putting them at greater risk for anxiety, depression, and trouble in school. Hear about the experiences of two of those youth caregivers, the impact that caregiving has had on their lives, and some of the resources available to help them in this video from Today4 Resources for Youth Caregivers.

Be There for ME

This is a new resource supporting parents and caregivers in Maine.  It was developed by the Department of Health and Human Services and the Maine Child Welfare Action Network in partnership with a diverse group of parents and caregivers. This website was created based on what parents and caregivers said they need and how they talk about their lives. The resources on this website are not an exhaustive list of available supports.  Learn more here at Be There for ME’s YouTube channel.

TCI in the News

Quoddy Tides reporter, Lura Jackson, recently wrote a piece on the CCC’s resource program, The Connection Initiative (TCI) and how TCI has been working to make it easier “for Washington County families and individuals who are in need of life altering resources, such as housing, heating and transportation, to reach out for and receive assistance.”  Read the article here.
