Cobscook Institute’s 25th Anniversary Festival

Join the staff at Cobscook Institute in Trescott to celebrate our 25th anniversary with an all day festival on September 28th.  Music, Storytelling, apples, papermaking, pottery, and lunch!  11 am — 4 pm.


Partners in Entrepreneurial Pathways 1.0

MaineStreet Business Building is offering Partners in Entrepreneurial Pathways 1.0 — Venture Exploration — beginning September 19th.  The asynchronous course/workshop series covers the nuts and bolts of small business start-up.  Each session will be led by a different guest lecturer who is a subject matter expert in the field. Business advising workshops and opportunity presentations will be available throughout the course and students will work through the stages of business planning, leading up to a complete business plan draft as the final project. Small business owners and entrepreneurial enthusiasts from the community will be able to select and audit sessions of their choice, providing an inclusive and dynamic learning environment. Learn more here.


4-H club focused on conservation careers open to teens

University of Maine Cooperative Extension 4-H and Maine Coast Heritage Trust are partnering to offer teens in Washington County a year-round opportunity to explore conservation career fields, build relationships with industry professionals, focus on aspirations and foster a connection to place.  This 4-H club is designed for youth ages 14-17 who are interested in exploring conservation-related careers. Youth will gain real-life experience to make informed decisions about their future and insights to help guide post-secondary pursuits. The 4-H club will meet monthly alternating between meetings and (school-approved) day-long site visits with local partner organizations. Rescheduled Coffee & Conversation

Beth C Wright’s Baileyville Center Coffee & Conversation with guest speaker, Dante Zanoni, Program Manager of The Connection Initiative, will not be held on August 9th.  The new date is August 22nd at the new time of 3 — 4 pm.


Free Tech Support

Sunrise County Economic Council is offering free tech support provided by Joshua Meroff with support from Maine Connectivity Authority on the following dates and times:
  • Tuesdays, 8/13, 8/27, 9/10, 9/24 at Eastport’s Peavey Memorial Library (11 am — 1 pm) and Calais Memorial Library (2 – 4 pm)
  • Thursdays, 8/8, 8/22, 9/5, 9/19 at Jonesport’s Peabody Memorial Library (11 am —  1 pm) and Harrington’s Gallison Memorial Library (2 – 4 pm).

FFCC’s 7th Annual Fundraising Dinner

Tickets now on sale for this event on September 14th at Big Cat’s Catering. Family Caregiver Services by State

The Family Caregiver Alliance has an online tool for caregivers to locate services in their state.  This locater helps family caregivers find public, nonprofit, and private programs and services nearest their loved one—whether they are living at home or in a residential facility.  Search for your state here.
