Cultural Competency 2019: FFD 201

This is a FREE Three-hour training on Cultural Competency presented by Elizabeth Neptune with Geo Neptune, a two-spirit educator and activist. The training will take place at Bear Lodge, north side of Long Lake, Indian Township, from 10 am to 2 pm.
This training is geared for Family Futures Downeast staff and partner agencies, medical providers, mental health and social service providers, school guidance counselors, law enforcement, and anyone working with families in Washington County. The primary goal of this training is to increase or enhance individual cultural competence. This will be accomplished by examining several elements of cultural competency including awareness, knowledge, attitudes and assumptions. There will be significant emphasis on honoring diversity and cultural differences.
Morning refreshments and lunch will be provided. Participants will receive contact hour certificates from the CCC (no fee), and Continuing Education Units (0.3) from UMM may be available for a $5 fee (bring cash, check or money order payable to University of Maine, Machias).
