Cultural Competency Training 2018

This is a FREE, four-hour training on Cultural Competency presented by Elizabeth (“Liz”) Neptune who will facilitate a panel to include community educators & advocates for Latinx community members from Mano en Mano and statewide health equity expert, Lisa Sockabasin. The training will be held in Science 102 at the University of Maine, Machias, with a distance learning option at Washington County Community College.
This training is geared for Family Futures Downeast staff and partner agencies, medical providers, mental health and social service providers, school guidance counselors, law enforcement, and anyone working with families in Washington County. The primary goal of this training is to increase or enhance individual cultural competence. This will be accomplished by examining several elements of cultural competency including awareness, knowledge, attitudes and assumptions. There will be significant emphasis on honoring diversity and cultural differences. Download a flyer to post in your office.
Morning refreshments and lunch will be provided. Participants will receive contact hour certificates from the CCC (no fee), and Continuing Education Units (0.4) from UMM will be available for a $5 fee (bring cash, check or money order payable to University of Maine, Machias).
